How does it work?
Isador's Fruit & Deli will purchase organic produce based on market price and seasonal availability, with heed to your personal preferences. See what's in this week's box. You will fill out a form indicating your likes and dislikes, and we will assemble a customized box for you. You may change your preferences at any time. After you submit your preferences, you may select a preferred payment method. A representative from Isador's may need to contact you to set up an account. This usually will happen within two business days.
How much do you get?
Every box is unique to the customer's preferences, therefore how much food you get in a given box is difficult to accurately quantify. A good estimate we've found is that a $34 box will feed a small family for a week, and a $48 box will feed a small vegetarian family for a week. Just think about how much you spent the last time you drove to the grocery store!!
Is it fresh?
Isador's rejects any produce that doesn't meet our very high standards. We verify this standard with scrutiny the moment it comes through our door, while we are packing the boxes, and again during the transfer to your cooler. Fresh produce is typically not within our possession for more than 48 hours before it is delivered to you. Anything left over from our shipment is either processed, donated to local food banks or divided among the employees of Isador's.
Is it organic?
Yes. Everything is certified organic.
Is it Local?
In the case of locally raised we offer the food miles box, which is Massachusetts farm-centric, at $28 with eight unique items and preferences disregarded. Based on supply, we might purchase from farms only as far as Florida and Maine to ensure eight unique items.
Those who have signed on to the $29, $34, $48 or $59 level will receive produce from California and tropicals, with the intention of purchasing local (ie. when given a choice between purchasing cucumbers from Mexico or Florida, we choose Florida grown even when more expensive). In addition, when purchasing tropicals such as bananas and mangoes, We try to ensure not only that they are organic but fair trade as well. At these levels you could elect not to receive tropical fruit.
Using this approach to purchasing, we are able to provide our service year round.
